A Day in the Life: Installing Smart Building Solutions Across Chicagoland
6:00 AM – Rise and Shine
The day begins early at my home in Naperville, as I prepare for another busy day with Total Automation Concepts, Inc. After checking my schedule, I see we have a major building integration project in Oak Brook.
7:30 AM – Morning Briefing
At our Bolingbrook headquarters, our team reviews today’s objectives. We’re upgrading a corporate office building with:
• New lighting control systems
• Security access points
• HVAC automation integration
• Energy management solutions
9:00 AM – On-Site Assessment
Arriving at the Oak Brook site, I begin mapping out the installation points for the new building automation system. The client wants to reduce energy costs while improving security, making this a comprehensive project.
12:00 PM – Lunch Break
Quick lunch in Downers Grove before heading to a service call in Chicago’s Loop.
1:30 PM – Technical Implementation
Back at the main project site, we’re installing the backbone of the lighting control system. The precision required here is crucial – every sensor and controller must be perfectly placed for optimal performance.
4:00 PM – System Testing
Running diagnostics on newly installed components. The satisfaction of seeing all systems communicate seamlessly makes this job rewarding.
5:30 PM – Wrap-up
Heading back to our Tinley Park satellite office to complete documentation and prepare for tomorrow’s tasks in the western suburbs.
My role at Total Automation Concepts, Inc. constantly evolves as building technology advances. Each day brings new challenges and opportunities to help businesses across Chicagoland optimize their operations through smart building solutions.
